Remulla: Plunder Charges vs Marcoleta Is A Go

RALLY or no rally, the filing of plunder charges against Senator Rodante Marcoleta will proceed, says Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla.

In an ambush interview, Remulla categorically denied that the charges against Marcoleta had anything to do with the senate impeachment trial on allegations filed against Vice President Sara Duterte.

Previously, the Ombudsman hinted at filing plunder charges against Marcoleta “within the week” over the senator’s undeclared campaign contributions amounting to P75 million.

In a statement, the powerful Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) took a swipe at what has been aptly referred to as “selective justice,” for which thousands of their church members travelled for hours to join a protest rally at the EDSA People Power Monument in Quezon City.

“Nothing has changed. We will file,” Remulla told reporters.

When asked about the EDSA rally, the Ombudsman said that though it was their freedom of expression, it was “the wrong premise… basta ang sa akin lang, we will do our job.”

Remulla also denied targeting Marcoleta.

“No such thing. It’s not selective justice,” quipped.
