Octa Survey: Only 4 of 10 Filipinos Trusting Senate

FROM HOW IT looks, divisiveness among members of the upper legislative chamber has been doing more damage to the reputation of the Senate,  according to the recent survey.

Based on Octa Research Group’s Tugon ng Masa second quarter survey, public trust ratings for the Senate plunged further, recording 41 percent, representing a three-point drop as compared to the 44 percent recorded in the first three months of the current year.

The Senate’s dissatisfaction rose from 27% to 32%.

Interestingly, the House of Representatives made a slight improvement but its trust rating remains lower than what the Senate got.

According to Octa, public trust in the lower legislative chamber increased to 38 percent, representing a two-point spike from 36 percent recorded in the first quarter of 2026. Distrust to the House of Representative declined from 33 percent to 28 percent.

On the Senate’s performance, 38 percent of the respondents said they were satisfied, 32 percent dissatisfied and 30 percent still undecided.

Satisfaction with the House’s performance rose from 35 percent to 37 percent while dissatisfaction dipped from 35 percent to 32 percent.

The survey was conducted from July 04 to 11, 2026, using face-to-face interviews among 1,200 respondents aged 18 and above.
