First 4 Official Entries to MMFF Named

IN A VERY jovial yet tension-filled mood at the East Wing of GH Mall in San Juan City, officers and members of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Selection Committee of the 2026 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) announced the first four official entries in this year’s fest.

Here are the four movies:

  • “Amir” from GMA Pictures starring Dennis Trillo, Will Ashley, Glaiza de Castro and Argus Aspiras. Zig Dulay directs.
  • “2nd Miracle in Cell Number 7” from Viva Films featuring Aga Muhlach and a host of actors and actresses. Nuel Crisostomo Naval directs.
  • “The Greatest Showdown” from Star Cinema, M-Zet Productions, APT Entertainment and The IdeaFirst Company presenting Vic Sotto and Vice Ganda, among other stars. Jun Robles Lana directs.
  • “Haunted Carnival” from Regal Entertainment showcasing the acting prowess of Maricel Soriano, Julia Barretto, Fyang Smith, James Reid and John Arcilla. Joey de Guzman directs.

The announcement was led by MMDA Chairman Atty. Romando Artes and hosted by KaladKaren, also known as Jervi Wrightson and Michael Sager.

According to Atty. Artes, the 52nd MMFF tickets are priced at P299.00 each.

But he added that the producers of the films can lower the prices but can not exceed them.

Spotted by Rose Garcia-Fabregas, Board Member of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), during the launch were entertainment journalist Noel Ferrer, Boots Anson Roa, Jose Javier Reyes, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), Vic Sotto, Jun Robles Lana, Vice Ganda, San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, Chairman of the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) Paolo Villaluna and other stakeholders.

This year’s hosts of the annual event are Mandaluyong City, San Juan City and for the very first time, Bacolod City in Negros Occidental.

The 52nd MMFF will run from December 25, 2026, Christmas Day to the first week of January 2027.

Meanwhile, the announcement of the remaining four official 2026 MMFF entries will be notified by MMDA and MMFF Selection Committee as soon as possible.
