MEN AT THE helm of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) will have to find ways to track the whereabouts of fugitive Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa.
By her own admission, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro confirmed that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. directed government law enforcement agencies to clamp down Dela Rosa in the soonest possible time.
“Yes, still, there is,” Castro told Palace reporters when sought for reaction over Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla’s claim over Dela Rosa’s whereabouts.
Remulla in an ambush interview claimed to have received an intelligence report that Dela Rosa, who is facing an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity, has been traced in Davao.
Earlier this week, various social media platforms were flooded with posts about Dela Rosa’s supposed arrest inside a hotel room in Davao City. The day after the supposed rumors circulated, both the NBI and the PNP issued a uniform statement, warding off such a report.
The Department of Justice and the DILG said they have “no information” about such.
The Presidential Communications Office’s (PCO) for its part said that their anti-fake news desk is looking into what they claimed was more of a disinformation perpetrated by paid trolls.
Malacañang on Wednesday said claims on the alleged arrest of Dela Rosa were meant to divert the public’s attention from the developments in the Senate impeachment trial.
