A MONTH AFTER a magnitude 7.8 earthquake killed 92 people in Sarangani, local residents are back in grief following a landslide in Malapatan town, leaving at least eight people dead and two others missing.
In a sketchy dispatch report coming from the Malapatan Municipal Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), an entire family with 10 members were reportedly smothered by the landslide in Sitio Fundao, Barangay Poblacion.
Moments later, the local government deployed response teams for search and rescue operations.
Sarangani and other parts of Mindanao have been battered by inclement weather these past days due to the effects of the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat, enhanced by Typhoon Inday.
